En un post anterior os hablamos de los edificios más altos de Benidorm (ver post), pero hoy… Os traemos los edificios más curiosos de la ciudad! Ahí van…

Gran Hotel Bali, el hotel más alto de Europa
Es un rascacielos de 186 metros reales (210 con la antena) y 53 plantas, bueno… Realmente son 51 plantas rasantes y 2 sótanos. 5 plantas están destinadas a usos técnicos y sala de máquinas de los ascensores, también hay 1 planta dúplex de las dos suites superiores, 1 planta mirador y las 43 plantas restantes son habitaciones, con un total de 440. Fue inaugurado el 17 de mayo del año 2002 y es el hotel más alto de Europa y fue el edificio más alto de España hasta que llegaron la Torre Picasso y la Torre Espacio respectivamente en Madrid.
¿Sabes quien inauguró el hotel? Pues ni más ni menos que Sir Elton John, que ofreció en Benidorm el único concierto de su gira por España allá por el 2002.
El Gran Hotel Bali se ha convertido en todo un hito en el sector hotelero de la ciudad. De hecho, y como curiosidad, está considerado como uno de los hoteles más seguros de España ya que dispone de modernos sistemas informáticos para evitar catástrofes: materiales ignífugos, ventanas que se abren automáticamente para dejar salir el humo, puertas que se cierran solas para evitar el paso del fuego y un sofisticado dispositivo informático capaz de avisar a los técnicos sin la intervención humana.
Pero eso no es todo, desde el 2008, cada año el Gran Hotel Bali reúne a los mejores saltadores del mundo en el Campeonato Mundial de Salto Base, Base Jump. Y también a los mejores corredores verticales del mundo en la ya conocida Subida Vertical al Hotel Bali http://subidagranhotelbali.com/ que ya lleva 17 ediciones. Esta carrera está enmarcada en el circuito de Towerrunning mundial y suben ni más ni menos que 924 escalones!
Edificio Intempo, el rascacielos residencial más alto de Europa
Es el edificio residencial más alto de Europa y uno de los edificios más altos del mundo en una ciudad con menos de 100.000 habitantes. Pero ¿a que no sabías que tenía el spa más alto de Europa? Pues si… Tiene un pedazo spa con vistas…
Tiene 256 viviendas repartidas en dos torres de 198 metros de altura cada una. Bueno… si contamos la estructura del ascensor, son realmente 202 metros de altura.
Desde la primera planta hasta la 22, los apartamentos de entre 62 y 95 metros cuadrados tienen un precio de 257.000 euros los más baratos y 341.000 los más caros. De la planta 23 a la 37, los precios oscilan desde los 367.000 euros los más económicos, hasta 497.000 euros por apartamento de 95 metros cuadrados y dos dormitorios.
Seguimos subiendo… De la planta 38 a la 45, que es la zona del famoso cono invertido, los precios suben mucho… Se ha llegado a pagar más de millón y medio de euros por una de las lujosas estancias. Estos áticos son de mayores dimensiones.
En la planta 46, hay una vertiginosa piscina al aire libre. Un piso más arriba, en la planta más alta del edificio, hay más servicios comunes, como una coctelería.
Pero dejemos de hablar de precios y vayamos a cosas más interesantes… Muchos hablan que su forma de M es un homenaje a las víctimas del 11M pero, lo que realmente representa, según el prestigioso arquitecto que lo diseñó, Roberto López-Guerras, es una puerta con un cono, un diamante. El arquitecto quería que se reconociese el edificio como la puerta de entrada a todos los visitantes de diferentes nacionalidades que recibe día a día Benidorm.
¿Sabes cómo se inspiró para hacer esta puerta?
Según su arquitecto, él acostumbra a ver amanecer en aquellos lugares donde va a trabajar. Un día, cuando estaba viendo el amanecer en Benidorm, recibió la visita de una gaviota 🐦, y entonces se dio cuenta que tenía que hacer un edificio muy alto, porque las gaviotas vuelan alto . Curiosa historia ¿verdad?
La verdad es que Roberto Pérez-Guerras siempre ha defendido Benidorm y de hecho, ha diseñado 5 edificios en la ciudad, como es el Intempo y el edificio Neguri Gane que ya hablamos en este post sobre los edificios y rascacielos más altos de Benidorm.
Edificio Delfin Tower
Aunque con una altura de 99 metros y 22 plantas puede parecer más modesta, esta torre destaca por su elegancia y por albergar 39 viviendas exclusivas. El precio medio de cada apartamento supera los 2 millones de euros, lo que la convierte en una opción de lujo en el corazón de Benidorm. Pero este no es el dato más curioso…
¿Sabías qué la Delfin Tower es un referente del urbanismo ecológico? Sí, como estás leyendo. Este moderno edificio es el primer residencial en altura de España con certificación Leed Gold, que obliga a que desde el diseño hasta la gestión del edificio sea concebido para ofrecer soluciones sostenibles.
Tanto es así que también ha ganado el premio nacional a la sostenibilidad por cosas como que la torre consigue optimizar la ventilación y la protección solar durante las diferentes épocas del año. Esto supone ni más ni menos que una reducción de más de un 33% de las emisiones de CO2. Además, y atent@ a este dato… Cada vivienda incorpora coches y bicis eléctricas. Los ascensores poseen su propio generador de energía que utilizan para las zonas comunes.
El edificio Delfin Tower cuenta también con un método de reciclaje de agua gris, es decir, se depura y se utiliza esa agua para regar los jardines y zonas verdes del edificio. Además cuenta con un sistema de basuras automatizado que separa los residuos.
Tienen aerotermia con suelo radiante para regular la temperatura y cuidar la calidad del aire interior gracias a unas puertas Blower Door. Y por supuesto, todos los materiales son españoles y de proximidad (menos de 300 kms). Utilizan piedra natural, que es el material más sostenible, mármol blanco, caliza, piedras naturales en las piscinas… y todo todito de la zona para fomentar la economía local.
Nuevo Ayuntamiento de Benidorm
Se le conoce como el rascasuelos de Benidorm y es que simboliza un rascacielos invertido. En su diseño quisieron hacer un homenaje a esta ciudad tan vertical tumbando uno de sus edificios. Curioso ¿verdad? Pero, además, tiene la forma de un puente, un puente simbólico, que une la zona antigua y moderna de Benidorm. Como un ejemplo de la evolución de la ciudad.
Fue inaugurado en 2003, y durante un tiempo, estuvo considerado como el edificio más largo apoyado en menos soportes. Además, supuso un reto logístico y organizativo, puesto que la construcción se llevó a cabo sobre un aparcamiento subterráneo preexistente que permaneció abierto y en funcionamiento durante los años que duró la obra.
Aquí va el dato curioso… ¿Sabías que en las vidrieras decorativas están escritos los nombres y apellidos de las 60.000 personas que vivían en Benidorm en aquella fecha? ¡Pues si! Esta fue la manera que el consistorio municipal quiso homenajear a los vecinos de Benidorm.
Sunset Waves
Sunset Waves se trata de un complejo residencial único ubicado a 1,5km de la playa de Poniente, con 104m de altura y un total de 29 plantas, se inauguró en el año 2021.
Estos edificios, como su nombre indica, pretenden evocar la forma de las olas. Lo podemos observar en el frontal de su fachada, donde los balcones son curvos con balaustradas de cristal que permiten que se refleje el mar y el atardecer en ellas. Un efecto visual que al verlos no pasará desapercibido.
Además, cuenta con una superficie de más de 10.000m2 destinados a zonas comunes, entre las que encontramos sus espectaculares jardines, y un rooftop en la planta 28 del edificio con vistas directas a la Playa de Poniente.
Neguri Gane
El edificio Neguri Gane en Benidorm, con sus 145 metros de altura y 40 plantas, es un impresionante ejemplo de arquitectura brutalista. Su base es muy estrecha, midiendo solo 27 x 22 metros. Este estilo arquitectónico, que surgió en los años 50, se caracteriza por construcciones donde el material de construcción, como el hormigón en este caso, se convierte en el principal elemento decorativo. Las estructuras no se pintan y presentan formas geométricas y paletas de colores monocromáticas.
Una característica interesante del Neguri Gane es que cuenta con una piscina en la planta 26.
El edificio recibe su nombre del barrio de Neguri, ubicado en el municipio vizcaíno de Getxo. ¿Curioso, verdad?
Torre Lugano
La Torre Lugano, ubicada en la parte más alta del Rincón de Loix, se eleva con sus 158 metros de altura y 43 plantas.
Esta torre residencial no solo ofrece vistas panorámicas impresionantes, sino que también es reconocida por su diseño vanguardista.
Debido a su ubicación elevada, da la sensación de ser el edificio más alto de la ciudad, convirtiéndose en un verdadero punto de referencia en el skyline urbano.

Gran Hotel Bali, the tallest hotel in Europe
It is a skyscraper of 186 real metres (210 with the antenna) and 53 floors, well… Actually there are 51 floors above ground and 2 basements. 5 floors are for technical uses and the machine room of the lifts, there is also 1 duplex floor of the two upper suites, 1 floor with a viewpoint and the remaining 43 floors are rooms, with a total of 440. It was inaugurated on 17th May 2002 and is the tallest hotel in Europe and was the tallest building in Spain until the Torre Picasso and the Torre Espacio respectively in Madrid.
Do you know who inaugurated the hotel? Well, none other than Sir Elton John, who gave the only concert of his Spanish tour in Benidorm back in 2002.
The Gran Hotel Bali has become a landmark in the city’s hotel sector. In fact, and as a curiosity, it is considered one of the safest hotels in Spain as it has modern computer systems to prevent catastrophes: fireproof materials, windows that open automatically to let the smoke out, doors that close by themselves to prevent the passage of fire and a sophisticated computer device capable of alerting technicians without human intervention.
But that’s not all, since 2008, every year the Gran Hotel Bali brings together the best jumpers in the world in the Base Jump World Championship, Base Jump. And also the best vertical runners in the world in the well-known Vertical Climb to the Hotel Bali http://subidagranhotelbali.com/, which has now been held for 17 editions. This race is part of the world Towerrunning circuit and involves no less than 924 steps!
Intempo Building, the tallest residential skyscraper in Europe
It is the tallest residential building in Europe and one of the tallest buildings in the world in a city with less than 100,000 inhabitants. But didn’t you know it has the highest spa in Europe? Well, yes… It has a great spa with views…
It has 256 flats spread over two towers, each 198 metres high. Well… if you count the lift structure, it is actually 202 metres high.
From the first floor to the 22nd floor, flats of between 62 and 95 square metres are priced at 257,000 euros for the cheapest and 341,000 euros for the most expensive. From the 23rd to the 37th floor, prices range from 367,000 euros for the cheapest to 497,000 euros for a 95 square metre, two-bedroom flat.
We keep going up… From the 38th to the 45th floor, which is the area of the famous inverted cone, the prices go up a lot… It has been possible to pay more than one and a half million euros for one of the luxurious rooms. These penthouses are larger.
On the 46th floor, there is a vertiginous outdoor swimming pool. One floor above, on the top floor of the building, there are more communal facilities, such as a cocktail bar.
But let’s stop talking about prices and move on to more interesting things… Many people say that its M shape is a tribute to the victims of 11M, but what it really represents, according to the prestigious architect who designed it, Roberto López-Guerras, is a door with a cone, a diamond. The architect wanted the building to be recognised as the gateway to all the visitors of different nationalities that Benidorm receives every day.
Do you know how he was inspired to make this door?
According to his architect, he is used to watching the sunrise in the places where he goes to work. One day, when he was watching the sunrise in Benidorm, he received a visit from a seagull 🐦, and then he realised that he had to make a very tall building, because seagulls fly high. Curious story, isn’t it?
The truth is that Roberto Pérez-Guerras has always defended Benidorm and in fact, he has designed 5 buildings in the city, such as the Intempo and the Neguri Gane building that we already talked about in this post about the tallest buildings and skyscrapers in Benidorm.
Delfin Tower
Although at 99 metres high and 22 storeys it may seem more modest, this tower stands out for its elegance and for housing 39 exclusive homes. The average price of each flat is over 2 million euros, making it a luxury option in the heart of Benidorm. But that’s not the most curious fact…
Did you know that the Delfin Tower is a benchmark of ecological urbanism? Yes, as you are reading. This modern building is the first high-rise residential building in Spain with Leed Gold certification, which requires that everything from the design to the management of the building is conceived to offer sustainable solutions.
So much so that it has also won the national award for sustainability for things like the fact that the tower manages to optimise ventilation and solar protection during different times of the year. This means no more and no less than a reduction of more than 33% of CO2 emissions. In addition, and pay attention to this fact… Each house incorporates electric cars and bicycles. The lifts have their own energy generator which is used for the communal areas.
The Delfin Tower building also has a grey water recycling method, i.e. the water is purified and used to irrigate the gardens and green areas of the building. It also has an automated waste system that separates waste.
They have aerothermal heating with underfloor heating to regulate the temperature and care for the indoor air quality thanks to Blower Door doors. And of course, all the materials are Spanish and local (less than 300 kms). They use natural stone, which is the most sustainable material, white marble, limestone, natural stones in the swimming pools… and everything from the area to promote the local economy.
Benidorm Town Hall
It is known as the Benidorm floor-scraper and it symbolises an inverted skyscraper. In its design they wanted to pay homage to this vertical city by knocking down one of its buildings. Curious, isn’t it? But it also has the shape of a bridge, a symbolic bridge, which joins the old and modern areas of Benidorm. As an example of the evolution of the city.
It was inaugurated in 2003, and for a while, it was considered to be the longest building supported on fewer supports. It also posed a logistical and organisational challenge, as the construction was carried out over a pre-existing underground car park which remained open and operational during the years the work lasted.
Here’s a fun fact… Did you know that the names and surnames of the 60,000 people who lived in Benidorm at that time are written on the decorative stained glass windows? Yes! This was the way the town council wanted to pay homage to the residents of Benidorm.
Sunset Waves
Sunset Waves is a unique residential complex located 1.5km from the Poniente beach, 104m high and with a total of 29 floors, opened in 2021.
These buildings, as their name suggests, are intended to evoke the shape of waves. This can be seen on the front of the façade, where the balconies are curved with glass balustrades that allow the sea and the sunset to be reflected in them. A visual effect that will not pass unnoticed when you see them.
It also has a surface area of more than 10,000m2 for communal areas, including its spectacular gardens, and a rooftop on the 28th floor of the building with direct views of the Poniente Beach.
Neguri Gane
The Neguri Gane building in Benidorm, at 145 metres high and 40 storeys high, is an impressive example of brutalist architecture. Its base is very narrow, measuring only 27 x 22 metres. This architectural style, which emerged in the 1950s, is characterised by constructions where the building material, such as concrete in this case, becomes the main decorative element. The structures are unpainted and feature geometric shapes and monochromatic colour palettes.
An interesting feature of the Neguri Gane is that it has a swimming pool on the 26th floor.
The building is named after the neighbourhood of Neguri, located in the Biscayan municipality of Getxo. Curious, isn’t it?
Lugano Tower
Torre Lugano, located in the highest part of the Rincón de Loix, rises 158 metres high and 43 floors.This residential tower not only offers breathtaking panoramic views, but is also renowned for its avant-garde design.
Due to its elevated location, it gives the impression of being the tallest building in the city, making it a true landmark in the urban skyline.
