Dos de las fiestas más internacionales, las Fallas y el Día de San Patricio o en inglés Saint Patrick’s Day se dan la mano en un único lugar en el mundo, Benidorm.

Las Fallas empiezan el día 15 hasta el 19  de marzo en el día de San José. Su origen se remonta a la antigua tradición de los carpinteros de la ciudad, que en vísperas de la fiesta de su patrón San José, quemaban frente a sus talleres, en las calles y plazas públicas, los trastos viejos e inservibles. Por ese motivo el día de la cremà, que es el momento en el que arden los monumentos falleros, siempre coincide con el día 19, Festividad de San José. En el siglo XVIII, las Fallas se reducían a materiales que fueran combustibles que recibían el nombre de Fallas y  posteriormente quemaban.

Con el paso del tiempo, estas Fallas fueron evolucionando y cargándose de sentido crítico e irónico, mostrándose sobre todo en los monumentos falleros escenas que reproducían hechos sociales censurables y crítica social siempre con sentido del humor.

Humor, crítica y picaresca que se ha mantenido hasta nuestros días. Por este hecho, antiguamente eran perseguidos, juzgados y castigados y no fue hasta el 1901 cuando se empezaron a estrechar lazos entre la política y la festividad fallera, ofreciendo los primeros premios a las mejores Fallas. Hoy la tradición se ha extendido por casi toda la Comunidad Valenciana, y Benidorm, un año más, también formará parte de esta antigua tradición.

Saint Patrick’s Day Benidorm 2024 o Día de San Patrico

Tiene su origen en la religión cristiana para conmemorar la muerte de San Patricio de Irlanda, patrón de todo el país. Es una fiesta nacional que se celebra junto al día de la fundación de la República. Una fiesta tradicional que sigue cobrando sentido generación tras generación. Desde el siglo XX se celebra en otras ciudades y países a nivel mundial, por la dispersión de sus habitantes. Países como Francia, Estados Unidos, Canadá o España son algunos de los que festejan esta celebración.

A pesar de tratarse de una festividad de origen puramente irlandés, llevamos ya casi una treintena de años celebrando el día de Saint Patrick, y un año más lo celebramos en Benidorm.

Por este motivo, volvemos a teñir muchas de nuestras calles de color verde, con sus famosos pubs, bares, restaurantes, sin olvidar sus populares cervezas. Se decora todo al más puro estilo irlandés exponiendo sus simbólicos tréboles y las banderas de irlanda.

Es así como se da vida a una celebración única en la que tampoco falta la programación de una serie de conciertos en los pubs más emblemáticos de la zona. De hecho, la música en vivo es uno de los signos más característicos de la fiesta de San Patricio en Benidorm. 

Sin duda es un fin de semana lleno de cultura muy variada y muchas emociones. No vas a querer perderte ninguna de estas dos fiestas tan características en un solo lugar acompañado de un clima inmejorable y el Mar Mediterráneo de fondo. ¡No te lo pienses más!

Two of the most international holidays, Fallas and Saint Patrick’s Day or in English Saint Patrick’s Day come together in a single place in the world, Benidorm.

The Fallas begin on March 15th until March 19th on Saint Joseph’s Day. Its origin goes back to the ancient tradition of the city’s carpenters, who on the eve of the feast of their patron Saint Joseph, burned old and useless junk in front of their workshops, in the streets and public squares. For this reason, the day of the cremà, which is the time when the Fallas monuments burn, always coincides with the 19th, the Festival of San José. In the 18th century, the Fallas were reduced to materials that were fuels that were called Fallas and subsequently burned.

Saint Patrick’s Day Benidorm 2024 or Saint Patrick’s Day

It has its origin in the Christian religion to commemorate the death of Saint Patrick of Ireland, patron saint of the entire country. It is a national holiday that is celebrated together with the day of the founding of the Republic. A traditional festival that continues to make sense generation after generation. Since the 20th century it has been celebrated in other cities and countries worldwide, due to the dispersion of its inhabitants. Countries such as France, the United States, Canada and Spain are some of those that celebrate this celebration.

Despite being a holiday of purely Irish origin, we have been celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day for almost thirty years now, and one more year we celebrate it in Benidorm.

For this reason, we are once again dyeing many of our streets green, with their famous pubs, bars, restaurants, without forgetting their popular beers. Everything is decorated in the purest Irish style, displaying its symbolic shamrocks and the Irish flags.

This is how a unique celebration comes to life in which there is also a series of concerts scheduled in the most emblematic pubs in the area. In fact, live music is one of the most characteristic signs of the Saint Patrick’s Day in Benidorm.
