LA HISTORIA DETRÁS DEL DÍA DEL PADRE
El Día del Padre, es una festividad que como su nombre indica reconoce a los padres. En España, esta celebración tiene sus raíces en 1948, diferenciándose de otros países como EE.UU., donde se celebra desde principios del siglo XX.
La elección del 19 de marzo, día de San José, para esta festividad en España, está ligada a la tradición católica, ya que en el santoral es el día de San José padre de Jesús y patrono de las familias.
Esta celebración comenzó gracias a la iniciativa de Manuela Vicente Ferrero(Nely). Profesora que incluso escribió un artículo en «El magisterio español», en el que animaba a las demás escuelas a promover esa nueva fiesta. Ella fue la pionera en propagar la idea, logrando incluso un acuerdo con Pepín Fernández, director de Galerías Preciados, para promocionar la celebración. Gracias a sus esfuerzos, el Día del Padre se ha convertido en una tradición arraigada, celebrada por familias en todo el país con actividades que fortalecen los lazos y expresan el amor y gratitud hacia los padres.

Father’s Day is a celebration that, as the name suggests, honours fathers. In Spain, this celebration has its origins in 1948, setting it apart from other countries like the USA, where it has been celebrated since the early 20th century.
The choice of the 19th of March, Saint Joseph’s Day, for this celebration in Spain is linked to the Catholic tradition, as in the liturgical calendar, it is the day of Saint Joseph, the father of Jesus and the patron saint of families.
This celebration began thanks to the initiative of Manuela Vicente Ferrero (Nely), a teacher who even wrote an article in «El Magisterio Español», encouraging other schools to promote this new festivity. She was the pioneer in spreading the idea, even reaching an agreement with Pepín Fernández, director of Galerías Preciados, to promote the celebration. Thanks to her efforts, Father’s Day has become a deeply rooted tradition, celebrated by families across the country with activities that strengthen bonds and express love and gratitude towards fathers.
