La elefanta Petita celebrará su 47º cumpleaños con una gran batalla de agua y colores a la que se han incorporado por primera vez cañones holi

Programa del festival:

• 11.00 horas. Inicio festival. Desfile de bailarinas y músicos hasta las instalaciones de la elefanta Petita.
• 12.30 horas. Realización de ofrenda de frutas y verduras a la elefanta para celebrar su cumpleaños.
• 12.45 horas. Inicio de la batalla de los colores y del agua en el poblado de Napastepur.

La celebración del 47º cumpleaños de la elefanta Petita de Terra Natura Benidorm este año será especial. La gran batalla de colores que se organiza para conmemorar el nacimiento de esta elefanta asiática será más espectacular que nunca.  En su sexta edición, el Festival hindú Holi del parque de naturaleza incluirá por primera vez el uso de cañones con polvos de colores a presión que se sumarán a los más de 300 kilos de polvos pigmentados y más de 5.000 botellas de agua coloreada que se han preparado para la ocasión. El encuentro se llevará a cabo el próximo sábado 24 de agosto a las 11.00 horas.

El desarrollo de este evento, único en la Comunidad Valenciana, tiene como origen la historia de la elefanta Petita que habita en Terra Natura Benidorm. Cuando esta hembra llegó a este espacio dedicado a la conservación fue rechazada por su manada al ser considerada fea ya que no cumplía con los cánones de belleza de su especie. La delgadez que presentaba frente al resto de hembras la convertían en poco atractiva para los de su especie. Gracias a otra elefanta, su inseparable Kaiso, ese rechazo fue superado hasta que acabó por integrarse en la manada.

En la próxima edición de este festival hindú, que pone en valor la superación y la amistad de estos animales, se utilizarán cerca de 20 cañones cargados con seis kilos de polvos coloreados con tonalidades rojas, amarillas, rosas, naranjas, lilas, verdes y azules que serán manejados por el personal del parque. Estos cañones alcanzan hasta una distancia de ocho metros, lo que permitirá crear un efecto espectacular en la zona habilitada para la batalla de colores.

La jornada de entretenimiento comenzará a partir de las 11.00 horas en el acceso principal del parque, situado en la zona de Pangea. Desde allí un grupo de bailarinas hindús recibirá al público asistente donde se les impondrá el tradicional bindi o tidak en la frente de los visitantes. Este punto rojo en el hinduismo se ubica en la frente de mujeres y hombres en la zona del sexto chakra para simbolizar la sabiduría. La comitiva de bailarines se desplazará hasta el anfiteatro donde se realizará una exhibición divulgativa sobre el vuelo de aves rapaces.

El final de esta exhibición dará paso a la ofrenda de frutas y verduras que se ofrecerá a Petita y a Kaiso en el recinto de elefantes. Ambas elefantas tendrán parte de sus cuerpos pintados con los típicos motivos y adornos que los hindús realizan en los festivales holi a estos animales. Tras la degustación se cantará la canción de ‘cumpleaños feliz’ a Petita y los participantes se trasladarán hasta el poblado de Napastepur, en el que tendrá lugar la batalla de colores.

El ocio continuará también en el parque acuático Aqua Natura Benidorm, en el que se pondrá en marcha una fiesta de espuma de colores y ambientación musical hindú con pasacalles.

6th Edition of the Holi Festival in Terra Natura Benidorm will be more colorful than ever

Petita the elephant will celebrate her 47th anniversary with a big water and colour battle

• 11.00 a.m.. Beggining of the festival. Parade with dancers and musicians to the facilities of Petita the elephant.
• 12.30 p.m. Fruit and vegetables offering to the elephant to celebrate her birthday.
• 12.45 p.m. Start of the coloured powder and water battle in the village of Napastepur.

 

The celebration of Petita’s (the elephant) 47th anniversary will be special this year. The great battle of colours that is organized to commemorate the birth of this Asian elephant will be more spectacular than ever.  In its sixth edition, the Hindu Festival Holi Nature Park will include for the first time the use of canyons with pressured colour powder to be added to more than 300 kilos of pigmented powder and more than 5,000 bottles of colored water that have been prepared for the occasion. The meeting will take place on Saturday 24 August at 11.00 a.m.

The development of this event, unique in the Valencian Community, has as its origin the history of this elephant that lives in Terra Natura Benidorm. When Petita arrived at this space dedicated to conservation, she was rejected by her herd because she did not comply with the beauty canons of her species. The thinness that she presented in front of the rest of females, made her unattractive for the rest of the herd. But thanks to another elephant, Kaiso, this rejection was overcome until she finally joined the rest of elephants.

In this edition of the Hindu Festival, which emphasizes the overcoming and friendship of these animals, will be used about 20 canons loaded with six kilos of coloured powder, being the colours red, yellow, pink, orange, lilac, green and blue the ones used, all of them handled by the park staff. These canyons reach a distance of up to eight meters, which will create a spectacular effect in the area enabled for the battle of colours.

This entertaining day will begin at 11.00 a.m. at the main entrance of the park, located in the Pangea area. From there, a group of Indian dancers will receive the audience where they will put the traditional bindi or tidiak on the forehead of the visitors. This red dot in Hinduism is placed on the foreheads of women and men in the area of the sixth chakra to symbolize wisdom. The group of dancers will go to the amphitheatre, where there will be an exhibition regarding the flight of birds of prey.

The end of this exhibition will give way to the offering of fruits and vegetables that will be offered to Petita and Kaiso in the elephant enclosure. Both elephants will have part of their bodies painted with the typical motifs and ornaments that the Hindus make in holi festivals to these animals. After the tasting, the song ‘Happy Birthday’ will be sung to Petita and the participants will travel to the village of Napastepur, where the battle of colours will take place.

Fun will also continue in the Aqua Natura Benidorm aquatic park, where a colourful foam party and Hindu musical ambience with parades will take place.
