Un año más, la sexta edición del campeonato mundial de BASE Jump Extreme se ha celebrado los días 7 y 8 de Junio de 2013 en el Gran Hotel Bali de Benidorm, el más alto de España con un total de 52 pisos y 160 metros de altura.

En esta sexta edición la organización ha preparado un evento lleno de saltadores profesionales y acciones tan espectaculares como saltos con traje de alas  y saltos acrobáticos de exhibición que hicieron las delicias de los espectadores.

Además, el campeonato estuvo amenizado con la actuación musical del grupo de rock Peachy Joke y la presencia de un DJ. Asimismo, el campeonato contó para esta edición con dos padrinos de lujo como son Álvaro Bultó (ex piloto de motociclismo) y Dario Barrio (intrépido cocinero) que llegaba con grandes opciones de pódium este año.

Al final, los ganadores fueron Chris McDougal “Douggs’, a quien las ráfagas no impidieron aterrizar justo en el centro de la diana, Jamie Flynn, en segundo lugar y Dan Witchals, tercero.

Nosotros estuvimos allí disfrutando de los saltos y también tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistar a Gary Connery, saltador profesional con 20 años de experiencia, quien alcanzó notoriedad en el Reino Unido por ser el actor que durante la ceremonia inaugural de los Juegos Olímpicos Londres 2012, hizo el papel de la mismísima Reina de Inglaterra, quien era recogida por James Bond y transportada en helicóptero hasta el estadio olímpico, al que saltaba en paracaídas para poder así inaugurar los juegos.

Once again for another year, the sixth edition of World Extreme BASE Jump Championship was held on the 7 and 8 June 2013 at the Gran Hotel Bali in Benidorm, Spain’s tallest hotel with a total of 52 floors and 160 metres in height.

In this sixth edition, the organisation had prepared an event with great professionals from this sport from around the globe including spectacular jumps in wingsuits and aerobatic display jumps to the delight of the spectators.

In addition, the championship was enlivened with a musical performance from the rock band Peachy Joke and the presence of a DJ. Also the championship this year had the luxury of two key participants such as Alvaro Bultó (former motorcycle racer) and Dario Barrio (intrepid chef) who participated with a chance of reaching a podium position this year.

In the end, the winners were Chris McDougal ‘Douggs‘, whom gusts of wind did not prevent him landing right in the centre of the target, Jamie Flynn, second and Dan Witchals third.

We were there enjoying the jumps and also had the opportunity to interview Gary Connery, professional diver with 20 years experience, who achieved notoriety in the UK for being the stunt man during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games London 2012, in the role of HRM The Queen of England, who was chaperoned  by James Bond at the Palace and transported by helicopter to the Olympic Stadium, and parachute jumped into the Olympic stadium to inaugurate the games.
